Wien Schwechat - LOWW

Johann H. Addicks @ WikiMedia Der Flughafen der Österreichischen Hauptstadt befindet sich im Südosten der Stadt, verbunden mit dem Stadtzentrum durch eine Bahnlinie (der sogenannte CAT - City Airport Train) und durch eine Autobahn.

Mit über 15.9 Millionen Passagieren pro Jahr gilt Wien Schwechat als ein Drehkreuz für Routen noch Osteuropa. Diese Routen werden zu einem großen Teil von den am Flughafen Wien ansässigen Austrian Airlines bedient.

My Friend @ WikiMediaIm Jahr 2005 begann die "Flughafen Wien AG" im östlichen Teil des Flughafengeländes mit dem Bau des SKYLINK, einem zusätzlichen Terminal, das Platz bietet für 91 weitere Check-In Schalter und 51 zusätzliche Gates (5 davon geeignet für den A380). 2006 wurde der neue Kontrollturm eröffnet. Mit dessen Höhe von 109 Meter ist er nicht nur von weitem sichtbar, sondern auch der höchste Kontrollturm Europas.
